Join us in the Main Reading Room for a commemoration of the dedication of the Russell Library, which took place exactly 150 years ago today.
On November 17, 1875, local leaders gathered to dedicate the new Russell Library, which was gifted to the community of Middletown by Mrs. Frances Russell in memory of her husband Samuel Russell. Over the last 150 years, millions of people have come through our doors to engage with the world through books, programs, and an ever-changing array of technologies ... resulting in countless lives transformed.
The program will include a 30-minute historical theater presentation by local actors, centered around the founding of our Library.
This event helps us kick off a year of celebration of our library's 150th birthday!
