Event Details

January is National Radon Action Month (NRAM). The purpose of this program is to increase the public’s awareness of radon and to promote radon testing. 

Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas released in rock, soil, and water formed from the breakdown of Uranium. Exposure to an elevated radon level for a prolonged period of time is known to increase the risk of lung cancer. Program participants who are residents of Middletown will receive a radon test kit to take home!

The Middletown Health Department and the CT Department of Public Health are providing Middletown homeowners with a testing device free-of-charge to screen for radon exposure at home.
